Intentwise AI Gateway Setup Guide for ChatGPT

Prerequisites

ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise(free accounts do not support MCP connectors)

NOTE: MCP connectors require Developer Mode to be enabled in ChatGPT. If you are on a Team or Enterprise plan, your workspace admin may need to enable this first in Admin Settings.

Setup Steps

Step 1: Open ChatGPT Settings

Go to chatgpt.com and log in. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner and select Settings.

Step 2: Enable Developer Mode

In Settings, navigate to Apps & Connectors (some versions show it as Connectors). Look for Advanced settings and toggle on Developer Mode.

TEAM / ENTERPRISE USERS If you do not see the Developer Mode toggle, ask your workspace admin to enable it. They can find it in Admin Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data Developer mode.

Step 3: Create a New Connector

Go back to Apps & Connectors and click “Add new connector” (or “Create App”). Fill in the fields:
Name: Intentwise (or any name you prefer)
Description: Query Amazon Ads data via Intentwise
MCP Server URL: https://mcp.intentwise.com/mcp/
Authentication: OAuth

Step 4: Confirm & Create

Check the box that says “I understand and want to continue” and click Create. ChatGPT will save your connector.

Step 5: Authorize with Intentwise

ChatGPT will redirect you to the Intentwise login page. Sign in with your Intentwise credentials to authorize the connection. Once authorized, you will be taken back to ChatGPT, and the connector will show as connected.

Using the Connector in ChatGPT

Start a new chat, select Developer Mode from the + menu, and choose the Intentwise connector. Then try:

ChatGPT Troubleshooting

Issue	Resolution
“I don’t see Developer Mode”	You need a ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise subscription. If on Team/Enterprise, ask your admin to enable it.
“Connection failed”	Double-check the MCP Server URL includes the trailing slash. Verify you selected User-Defined OAuth Client.
“No data returned”	Ensure your Intentwise account has active Amazon Ads integrations with data synced.
“DCR is unavailable” warning	This is expected. Select User-Defined OAuth Client from the Registration method dropdown.
