What are instructional queries?

Amazon Marketing Cloud's (AMC) instructional queries provide pre-written SQL code that AMC users can use as is or modify for common measurement and analytics tasks.

ASIN Purchase Overlap Upsell

This instructional query is designed to identify products (ASINs) purchased together after exposure to advertising campaigns. By analyzing these purchase overlaps, you can identify ASINs to target in remarketing campaigns, especially for customers who have already purchased from your campaigns.

For example, if there is a high overlap between two ASINs, it indicates that many people exposed to the advertising activities purchased both ASINs within the attribution window. The results show the lead ASIN, lead ASIN purchases, distinct lead ASIN purchased user count, overlap ASIN, distinct lead and overlap ASIN purchased user count, user overlap, and URLs to the lead and overlap ASINs.

Based on the user overlap, you can identify ASINs that are often purchased together. For instance, a high user overlap percentage might suggest a strong potential for remarketing campaigns targeting customers who purchased the lead ASIN but not the overlap ASIN. However, it's essential to consider the absolute number of distinct users purchasing to gauge the significance of the user overlap percentage accurately.
